Hurricane Florence
With hurricane Florence almost here (it’s about 5 hours until landfall as of the time of writing), I’m really happy that we got our preparations done in time and as well as we could.
We have water ready in case of a power outage, cookware is prepared for wood fire cooking, the chimney is clean and so is the fireplace. Loose debris has been secured, and all that’s left for us now is to wait.
Fortunately, we got lucky: as the hurricane moved across the Atlantic, the forecasts for us are much more favorable than they used, but also much worse for the Carolinas. We’ve got flood risk, and we are expecting plenty of rain and flash floods plus the run-off floods after the weather’s done.
